Under Western Skies Poems

By: Teck, Frank Carleton

Price: $20.00

Quantity: 1 available

Rare very good first and only edition of one of the first books published in New Whatcom, WA, which later became Bellingham. Frank Carleton Teck was the editor of several Bellingham newspapers in the 1890's through the early 1900's, at which time he moved to Port Angeles. Teck was a writer, editor, owner and publisher of The Blade newspaper (New Whatcom) in the 1890's. This book is priced very low because we believe a prior owner replaced the ribbon holding the pages together, so it is not completely original. Wraps, age toned around spine. This book was published by The Blade Publishing Company, New Whatcom, 1899 (title page). On verso of the title page it is noted that the book was printed at the press of Caldwell and Calvert, New Whatcom, Wash. Unpaginated. 55 pp. of poetry relaying Teck's observations of life around Puget Sound in the 1890's. Teck was a founding trustee of State Normal School New Whatcom (from 1899-1905), which is now Western Washington University. Teck was instrumental in building the fledgling college's library collection. Teck was also editor of several Seattle newspapers and wrote magazine articles. We specialize in books about Bellingham and the surrounding area.
